George Clooney's latest film The Boys In The Boat might follow the University of Washington's rowing team's quest to compete in the 1936 Summer Olympics but its filming locations were largely British with the Cotswolds and Home Counties taking centre stage.
The Boys In The Boat filming locations
Washington University Boat House location
A replica of the university's boat house was created at Cotswold's Water Park, Cirencester. Unfortunately it was removed when filming finished so you can no longer see it.
Washington vs California race
Given Henley is one of the most iconic rowing locations in the world it is perhaps no wonder it was featured in the film. The Washington vs California race was filmed in two parts, starting in Eton Dorney and finishing at Henley.
Poughkeepsie Regatta
The second race of the film was filmed at Queen Mother Reservoir between Slough and Heathrow Airport.
Berlin Olympics
Possible spoiler alert as they obviously do make the Olympics! The Cotswold's Water Park became the scene for the 1936 Olympic Games with grandstands, pontoons and officials’ towers purposely built for the occasion.
