Do you have what it takes to be awarded with Britain's best plot?

Grow-your-own gardening expert and best-selling author Huw Richards has teamed up with GARDENA to launch its Top of the Plots 2025 competition.

But if your plot is still recovering from winter, there's plenty of time to get it into shape, as the competition opens on 19 May.

The competition celebrates the best in grow-your-own culture, from potted herbs on windowsills or balcony gardens to thriving wildlife-friendly allotments. Top of the Plots is open to gardeners of all levels and celebrates the creativity and diversity of the UK's growing community.

To enter, gardeners can email topoftheplots@democracypr.com from 19 May with:

  • 6x high-quality photos showcasing your garden or allotment
  • A short description highlighting your growing journey, plant variety, sustainability practices and maintenance efforts
  • Your selected category

The awards categories are: Best Allotment, Best Garden Plot; Best New Plot; Kids on the Plot; Best Small Plot; Biodiversity on the Plot; and Best Community Plot. You could win £1,000-worth of GARDENA products and gardening vouchers.

Head judge and GARDENA ambassador Huw Richards says, “This competition isn’t just about finding the best plots, it’s about inspiring more people to take up growing, whether on an allotment, in a garden, or even on a windowsill. Everyone can be a grower.

“Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting out, this competition is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the joy of cultivating your produce and connecting with nature.”

GARDENA has launched the competition with the support of The National Allotment Society.
