First impressions

Although they look sturdy and supportive, these sandals are not overly bulky and are much lighter than they appear. They are well put together with plenty of technical features. The beige colour way is multi-functional but not decorative. These sandals are built for trickier natural terrain but would be just as useful on long city days.

Fit

The Velcro straps on the foot and ankle give these sandals a good level of adjustability but the backstrap is not adjustable. The moulded footbed and cushioned heel offer plenty of support and the Lycra neoprene strap lining is comfortable. I experienced a small amount of rubbing around the big toe area. Fitting true to size with plenty of space for wider feet, especially at the front, they give a similar fit to a good pair of walking shoes.

Are they grippy?

The Vibram rubber TC5+ soles have a 5mm tread pattern. These sandals have an excellent grip in dry conditions, but I experienced a surprising amount of slipping on mossy tracks and wet rocks.

How do they feel?

For such a sturdy pair of sandals they are very comfortable. Their surprisingly light construction, padded straps and cushioned heel all contribute to a supported but not heavy wearing experience. Put them on at the start of the day, and you won’t be in a hurry to take them off again.

Durability?

Vibram soles are well known for their durability and the other elements of these sandals appear to be built to match. With no obvious weak points and plenty of sturdy stitching, they look as though they will take you through at least a couple of decent walking seasons.

Sustainability and ethics?

These walking sandals are made in Indonesia and include animal products.

Good value?

Perhaps not. Despite being supportive, their lack of grip in the wet could be an issue.

Best used for:

These sandals will take you from city street to walking trail. Great for summer walking holidays.
