Our review: If you're on the lookout for a synthetic sleeping bag that feels like down, the Robens Icefall Pro 300 is well worth considering

Robens is part of the Danish company Oase Outdoors, who also own Outwell and Easy Camp. Known particularly for their robust and innovative tents, Robens have been developing outdoor gear for 50 years. The lightest of all the bags we reviewed, the Robens Icefall Pro 300 is an ultra-lightweight, modern synthetic sleeping bag, which would suit backpackers and bikepackers alike.
First impressions
If softness is your top priority, this is the sleeping bag for you. Roben’s careful choice of Taffeta Nylon for the lining has really paid off; you’ll want to go to bed the minute you feel it. This is a synthetic-fill bag but its unique MicroThermo Ball filling feels and even lofts just like a down-filled one. If you’re a vegan or are worried about the susceptibility of down to moisture, but really value performance and feel, this could be the right choice for your lightweight summer camping adventures.
How warm is the bag?
For a synthetic bag the Icefall Pro 300 offers plenty of softness. It doesn’t claim to be as warm as similar down-filled bags and it isn’t. For its impressively light weight though, this is a warm sleeping bag and its tight body-contour profile and enhanced padded zip baffle add extra insulation. This bag doesn’t have a shoulder baffle but the hood drawcord also tightens the bag around the front. One unusual feature of the Icefall Pro range is the adjustable waist cord, which allows you to keep warmth around your lower body while you sit up to make that all-important morning coffee.
How comfortable?
You’ll find it hard to beat the feel of this lightweight sleeping bag. From its buoyant lofting fill to its luxurious inner fabric, everything has been designed to ease you gently into the dream world. If you’re not used to tighter fit bags and enjoy airing your feet, you might find this one restrictive, but you’ll love the YKK high quality central front zip, which is impressively covered with a cosy lofting baffle.

This sleeping bag does not contain down.
Sustainability?
This sleeping bag is made in messaged July 5th. It uses a synthetic fill rather than animal-based products. Its construction is PFC-free. Oase Outdoors are working to reduce their emissions and they utilise a range of innovative carbon removal methods to balance the CO2 they do emit.
Are other versions available?
The Icefall Pro is also available in a 600 (comfort temperature 6°C) and a 900 (comfort temperature 0°C)
