Outdoor retailer Trespass are a Scottish success story. First producing quality outdoor clothing in 1984, they’ve become a household name in the outdoor world. With sole cushioning and a moulded footbed, the Hueco women’s sandal has been designed for city breaks as well as everyday adventures.

First impressions

It’s clear from first glance that this pair of sandals has aimed to hit a balance between foot comfort and good looks. Their combination of attractive lighter-weight webbing straps and a cushioned and moulded footbed is likely to appeal to travellers.

Fit

These sandals have straps at the ankle and foot as well as a toe post, which is soft and comfortable. The ankle strap provides adjustment but there is none at the front. They are a narrower fit than some other sandals we tested. This, combined with their lack of front adjustment, means they’re unlikely to suit you if you have wider feet.

Are they grippy?

The durable traction outsole gives a good level of grip on a variety of surfaces. We even tested these on board a boat, where they felt as grippy as they did around town.

How do they feel?

Initially these sandals were a tight fit, but the webbing straps loosened over time. Although this loosening might work for wider feet, it reduces the level of support and increases reliance on the ankle strap. The Velcro on the ankle strap didn’t offer quite enough flexibility and left a slightly irritating long loose end.

Durability?

Although the soles seem well made, the give in the webbing straps is likely to reduce the life of these sandals.

Sustainability and ethics?

Trespass source their goods from countries in the Far East and Asia.

Good value?

A good price but these might not last beyond their first season.

Best used for:

City breaks and more gentle summer holiday walks. Great for evenings.
