A staple of British afternoon television, the much-loved detective drama Foyles War is set during World War 2 staring Michael Kitchen and Honeysuckle Weeks. It ran for 9 series and is often re-shown on ITV2 in the UK
Where was Foyles War filmed?
Foyles War was filmed where it's set, Hastings on the southeast coast of Britain and if you're a fan many of the sites in the town will be familiar to you.
Wander along Croft Road in the Old Town you will come across the house St. Just which starred as the home of DCS Foyle - and it hasn't changed much. Rock up outside and you half-expect to see Foyle strolling out.
Viewers will also recognise the town's St Clement's Church, which Foyle attends visits for various cases, along with Swan Terrace. The town's Royal Victoria Hotel appeared in the episode Eagle Day.
Nearby Eastbourne seafront is also regularly featured.
Foyles War has gone further afield as well. In the very first episode The German Woman Squerryes Court in Kent doubles up as the grand home of Henry Beaumont, while Gaddesden Place in Hemel Hempstead, doubled up as Gascoigne's Manor House in episode "A Lesson in Murder".
Do you remember the episode where Foyle's son Andrew worked at the radar testing as a test pilot was filmed - appropriately - at Bawdsey Manor on the Suffolk coast, as this in real life was a research centre for radar.
In the last series Liverpool - in particular Falkner Street - doubles up as London where Foyle, in his new role as an MI5 senior intelligence officer, is immersed in the world of espionage in post-war Britain. Far cry from the Hastings seaside - and possibly a tad more dangerous.
