January and February is mating season for red foxes. Vixens let out bloodcurdling cries to attract dog foxes, and these are often heard in the dead of night and sound quite human-like, so can be unnerving for anyone not familiar with them.
But they have a peaceful side too, as this beautiful video of a fox in snowfall proves.
