Look away mycophobes: Slow-mo footage shows bizarre way mushrooms grow inside a tree trunk

Greyish white oyster mushrooms can be seen on tree stumps and dead trees throughout the winter – in fact, cold weather often seems to produce more of them.

The species is edible, and delicious, but it’s never advisable to forage for fungi unless with an expert.
